I said I see him as a close friend. Does this leave room for being more than friends?

hello. ive been talking to my best lad mates friend alot recently, weve became really close friends, weve just been talkin about my best lad mate i said i saw him as a brother, the mate of his asked what i saw him as. i said close friends, what i would like to know is if you say close friends does this leave room for more than friends? it felt like a certain question that required a certain answer , but i didnt give him it because i am shy. have i messed things up ?

It depends how recently you've become friends. If you've become friends very quickly then it is likely to lead to a relationship (that's what I've found from past experience.) However if you've become close friends over a period of time, you probably know a lot more about each other and are very used to being friends, so if you started a relationship, you would have a lot to lose were you to break up.
