We have played around a lot with other practices such as oral sex but the one reason I have always shied away from intercourse is that I am absolutely terrified of getting pregnant. I am so torn up inside because my heart and body is screaming for me to have sex with the man I love, but my mind refuses to co-operate, I just don not want to and cannotget pregnant right now.I have come very close to sex with him but I always end up screeching to a halt at the last minute because of this incredible fear. I don't trust contraception because I have a family history of unplanned pregnancies - even with the use of contraceptive pills, and even when the pill was combined with condoms and spermicidal lubricant! I also read somewhere that with people my age, the pill must be taken at least 3 months in advance for it to be effective and reliable.I am so afraid that having sex just one time could end with me up the spout. I don't want to have to deal with the emotional crisis of termination or adoption either. I am so lucky that my boyfriend has never, ever pressured me into sex. I have explained to him that a pregnancy now would screw up both our lives and he respects that. He completely understands and has been incredibly patient with me. He says he will be ready whenever I am ready, and I want to be ready so badly, but I don't know how to prevent pregnancy other than complete abstinence. What can I do so that I can finally have sex with my boyfriend without having to worry about pregnancy?

Either make sure that you are not fertile (i.e. implant or pill - if you can remember to take it!) or don't take the risk

Although the pill and condoms are the most common form of contraception, it mean their the only ones. I suggest you go any see your doctor for information on other forms, experiment with some and find one your completely comfortable with. Take your boyfriend with you and make he also comfortable with it also. Choosing together should make your mind rest.
Hope this helps.
