laura94 is verified as being by the original poster of the question thanks everyone I told my parents and my brother they didnt have an issue with it except my dad who doesnt really matter as he stopped talking to me. we did go out in the end.

Well see how he feels thenn if he would want a relationship then yu let him know yur gonna tell them but dnt tell them tht yu and him talked about it jus act like yu wanted to talk to them first.

 well if you think that way is best then it is entirely up to yourself. i would just imagine that it would be better talking to them first at least then they know that you value there opinion because you went to them first before you asked him out. But its completely up to yourself whatever you feel is best for yourself.

I think that if you are worried about how your family or brother would react then maybe it would be best to talk to them about it first. Sit them down and tell them that you really like X and that you would like to ask him out and see how they feel. Its probably better you talk to them first therefore you will feel better about asking X out knowing how your family feel about it. Goodluck.
