I really like him and I would like something more...

A female United Kingdom age 51-59, anonymous writes:

Three weeks ago I had a one night stand with the brother of a friend of mine.

We agreed the next morning that it had been a really great night but that it would be a one off.

As he had very recently begun to date another girl, and the fact that we both live a long way apart I thought that nothing could come of it and I told him that I did not consider him relationship material.

I didn’t expect to hear from him again (I only ever see him at Christmas when he comes home to visit his brother) so when he left I simply said “see you next Christmas”.

Since then, he has contacted me through Facebook and we have been chatting online. This has mostly been general conversation but a couple of nights ago he told me that he wishes he was here with me.

I’m now feeling confused because of this. I really like him and I would like something more, but because of his circumstances (the new girlfriend and the distance) I have been careful not to let this show in my communication with him. Do you think I should let him know how I really feel or should I cut off this contact and give it up as a lost cause?
