A male United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

me and my friend are at the same uni, same course and same accomodation and we live next door to this girl who is a really nice girl and very pretty. my friend and her have a close friendship with each other. my friend feels that she likes him and i could see it at the start but the last few weeks or so I have seen it fade. however he still thinks she likes him and i know he likes her as he wants her to come round and go out all the time with us but i think shes not interested in him in that way because now she seems to be interested in me.

shes been speaking to me alot more and she looks at me a lot for a good period of time and when i catch her she doesn't look away we end up looking at each other and smiling back. we went out yesturday with my flatmates including my friend and this girl and within minutes of seeing me she asked if i was staying on sunday night as everyone from her flat was going home for christmas and it was same for me so we'd be alone just us two together and she straight away no hesitation said we'll have dinner together and then watch a few movies etc. and then for rest of the night she kept dancing with me and looking over at me

The problem is that if we end up watching films etc what if she wants something more? I wouldn't normally stop it but cause my friend likes her i'm not sure if i would be comfortable with it as id feel really guilty but i like her enough to ask her out but i don't want to cause of my friend

what do I do in case she is going to make a move?

A female reader, anonymous, writes (19 December 2014):

Hi, I've been on the receiving end of this kind of situation. I liked a guy who liked me & then a female friend made a play for him instead.

All I can say is - check with your friend first if he would mind. If you are both open about it then there's not much he can do. With me - it was all done behind my back & so it hurt a lot more.

So maybe just check with your friend - if you & the girl like each other I'm sure you can take things slow until your friend has moved on.
