I need you--I love you...the same thing?

My boyfriend always says i need you is that close to i love you? he's never asking for sex or anything.

Like he's just saying no i need you or something like that.

no its not the same thing. I need you means that you are doing something for him. I love you means that he cant imagine his life without you. Not the same thing.

Maybe he just isn't ready to say "I love you" yet.

Maybe "I need you" is his way of saying I care about you A LOT, and i really like you in my life, but he doesn't know how to express that to you.
