A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

My vagina has had a fishy ordor on and off again for the past year or two and I know I should have gotten checked out by a doctor a long time ago but I'm not sexually active so I'm worried my mom wont believe that because I want to see a doctor.

Is there any soaps that would fix this? Please help!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (5 October 2014):

Hi, I am no older than you, and I have an over protective mom too.

She would freak out if she knew I was having sex. The same thing happens to me. This is what I do every time it comes, and it goes away.

I only wash my vagina with water and my hand(no soap), I always make sure to dry my vagina good after showering, never wear colored underwear, always wear looser fitting jeans(if possible), and drink plenty of water. Juice aggravates me and give me a worst discharge. It will go away within a week, I promise.

Could be bacterial vaginosis, it is common and you don't have to be sexually active. It is treated by antibiotics. I would suggest seeing a dr so they can test for this.

Sounds like bacterial vaginosis. Plain Greek yogurt, cranberry juice, and apple cider vinegar inserts (soak an unscented tampon in water diluted apple cider vinegar; 1 tablespoon per cup should all help greatly.

Tisha-1 agony auntLots of women get non-sexually caused vaginal infections. It's no biggie! Just tell your mom you think you might have a yeast infection and need to see the doctor.

Good luck!
