writes: Can somebody please tell me how I can get better organized??I'm in for a terrible evening. My parents are always telling me that I need to get much better at organizing myself, and tonight I may have messed up big time! Tomorrow I'm suppose to go to Bournemouth university for an interview, but tonight I have re-read the letter they sent to me and it states that they would send me more details after they received confirmation of my attendance. Now, here's the thing. I typed up my confirmation, but I was a little uncertain about how my e-mail sounded, so I thought I would just wait and have my dad talk it over with me later... But I forgot. Now, the night before my interview, I have realized that they may not be expecting me! I've tried calling them, but can't get through to anybody, which means I will have to try calling them in the morning when we (My dad booked the day off work for this!) are suppose to be leaving the house. Now, tonight when my parents get home, I'm going to have to explain the situation, and I am going to get slaughtered. They are going to hand me the biggest lecture of my entire life, and this is the time where I think that instead of just receiving a lecture, I must find out HOW to become more organized.Does anybody have any tips for organization? And also... Any advice on what I can say to my parents?

Andy00 is verified as being by the original poster of the questionWell folks, I got a miracle!
On the way to the Uni, I finally received a call from them, and from there they told me that it would still be possible for me to audition. So everything went to plan in the end, I just need to get myself better organized in future, because I was pretty lucky today, I'd say.

I'm a bit like you to a degree, I can't keep anything organised and all my school papers are usually creased up. So I haven't really got any tips on that but parents I have.
Lie. Say the interview been cancled, make up a reason why it has
Tell them the simple truth and just say sorry

Try doing a google search for organisational tips - I'm sure loads of stuff will come up.
Doing things as you go along, keeping clearly labelled files. Keep files in a labelled, easily accessible box. Put things in alphabetical order. Use sticky notes/page markers etc ... Keep up to date in bite size chunks. Set aside a period of time, say, one hour, each week to update all your stuff. When you get any letters, read them thoroughly, deal with any action points immediately and write dates and reminders in your planner/diary.
I used to be very disorganised but as I have got older, this caused problems and the above tips helped. Also, if you have 'earmarked' a piece of time to do your paperwork/admin/organisational stuff, stick to it, focus and don't allow yourself to be distracted by the phone, tv etc .. It's a discipline and it grows on you. The best thing I have found is dealing with things straightaway as they come in, file them straightaway, follow up all actions and write down what you did and when you did it.
Apologise to your parents and say it was a genuine oversight..........you've been busy and stressed with school work etc and promise them that you are taking active steps to get more organised and ask them if they have any tips. My boss describes my desk as 'academic' ie 'messy/nutty professor/chaotic' so I know what you mean! I know how boring it is having to attend to these admin things when there is so much other fun stuff to do but it must be done, otherwise these mess ups will happen. You might as well get in the habit now in preparation for university. Good luck x

You are like my son, He has always been disorganised but he has such a good brain and has a great job in a bank, This is not a problem for him but to get were he did it was a mission. I found the best way to deal with it was not to go on at him as that adds pressure but thats me and if he was late with homework or missed something else then he had only himself to answer to. He got there in the end but his room is a nightmare!!!! Anywho sweetheart you are going to have to take this one as there is no way out and maybe this is the start of good things to come as you are now wanting help. Im sending you a link on how to try and get organised this may help give you a goal and you can then maybe show your parents you are trying to help yourself hunny.
