A female United Kingdom age 36-40, *i_the_tree writes:

Hello again and welcome back to all those who have read my previous posts.

Background: (i'll do my best to keep it short) Was with a guy on and off for 3 and a half years. We went through a lot together, family deaths, separation, depression, illness, operations, joblessness and having no money, no means of transport and many other things. About 10 months ago after a period of separation, he wrote me a letter and i took him back. He asked me to move in with him, but then seemed to think that i would only stay at his a few days a week (not the definition of moving in i know) so i took what stuff i had brought to his and went home.

We broke up a couple of hours after that, and pretty much immediately got with another girl (who had been sniffing around during our previous separation) I was truly devastated, especially when he said that he was happier with her, so i let him be. Over time, he began contacting me again and we've met up more than a few times over the course of their relationship. I had always wanted him back, but he seemed reluctant as i had been with another man briefly whilst apart.

Around mid November, when my ex hadn't really been speaking to me, I met someone who took me out on a couple of dates, and he seemed like a nice enough guy. I told my ex that i had met this guy and he kinda panicked, thinking that i had found better. Turns out this guy i had met went through my phone one night whilst i was asleep and actually called my ex! I'd only been with him for 3 weeks! Long story short, back at the beginning of December, my ex promised me everything i could ever want. He said he would split with his gf after christmas and new year, and that we would work at our relationship and be happy. I was so excited. At this point i told myself that if we weren't together by Valentines (a good couple of months away, then it wasn't gonna happen) then i would move on.

So after new year, i hardly heard from the ex, and i found out it was because i had been with someone else and he was struggling to deal with it (no idea why as he can't dictate who i spend time with, plus the whole time he'd been with someone else anyway!!!!) So again i had to wait. He continued to ignore me and in my desperation i just asked him that if he doesn't want to be with me anymore then to tell me, instead of leaving me stressing about what's going on all the time. He replied with an apology for being the way he was, and that he was still working through things.

So, now Valentines has been and gone, and still nothing, he is currently ignoring me again, and this anger i have inside of me is starting to replace the love i have for him. I don't want to be angry and bitter when it comes to him, i just want to move on now, but i don't know how to do it. I think i could probably do the No Contact rule. It'd be tough because i know what i'm like, but i wondered if anyone else has suggestions.

I already have everything that he ever gave/made/bought me in a box under my bed. I just want the pain to go away. Thank you for taking the time to read this...
