I've decided that I want to head back into school for a degree but I'm not exactly sure what field I should study. These are my basic interests. Music, video games, computers and writing. These are the things that I'm pretty sure I could be happy making a career out of. Now, I don't want to sound like I'm doing it for money but seeing as how I'm currently employed at a retail store, it would be nice to see an increase in my yearly salary. So which one of these jobs would you think brings in the largest income? What kind of career should I be studying based on my interests?Thank you guys for taking the time to read this and help me with my dilemna.

Read the book "What Color is Your Parachute." It's widely regarded as one of the best career picking books available.

You may be surprised at this suggestion, but since "writing" is in your laundry list . . .
Jack Ganssle, a respected consultant and widely read columnist in the area of "Embedded Systems Engineering" (largely using microcontrollers), has mentioned that liberal arts majors with a heavy emphasis in literature and writing can be trained as good software programmers. He thinks it's because they have an appreciation for structure, and interactions among semingly unrelated events. They also understand the ambiguousness of natural language.
Do a little background investigation with your search engine and consider whether this might be something worth pursuing.
