I need a strategy. Should I play it cool? Have I tried too hard?

Question - (2 April 2016) 3 Answers - (Newest, 2 April 2016)
A female Anguilla age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I asked this guy, who works in the same building as I, out and he said yes, but about 2 hours before he sort of gave me an excuse.

Prior to my asking him out, we had been flirting and messaging. Most likely I have made myself too available, or showed too much interest.

In my defense, he said he was shy so I figured that if I did nothing nothing would happen, anyways I've seen him a couple of times after the date that didn't happen and we've been flirting and whatnot, but I'm afraid I've overdone it, by touching him way too much and using a cutesy tone of voice ( he has already said once that i'm manipulative, bc I said I convinced someone do to something i wanted, i don't remember exactly what, so I figure now he's playing hard to get because he doesn't want to feel manipulated...). Anyways, should I play it cool now? I've already stopped messaging and he hasn't initiated any contact either. I still see him somewhat frequently at work and my ego won't let me accept that I've been rejected and that it's final,so I need an strategy, advice, whatever...

Honeypie agony auntEh, stop wasting your time on this one.

Being rejected is not always a bad thing. I would seriously rather b rejected by a guy BEFORE putting forth a whole lot of effort and BEFORE getting emotionally attached. No need to take it personal.

So you were now HIS type, HIS loss.. move on.

And seriously, in the future drop the "act". The whole "use my cutesy voice"... it's not as attractive as you may think.

Denizen agony auntYes, drop this one back in the pond. If he hasn't the guts to go out with you, even when you made it easy for him by breaking the ice, then he's a dead fish.

As the saying goes: 'Faint heart never won fair lady'.
