In December I moved over to be with him and we moved in straight together - yes far too soon but we had a really strong connection and talked every day while he was gone. Since I arrived (5 month ago) he has been getting colder, depressed and sometimes won't talk to me. Yesterday he broke up with me on emails saying we don't get along as a couple, but as friends. He also said we can still live together as friends. What am I missing here???? I love him and want to make it work.

I doubt if you can make this work if all he wants to be is friends. I guess you can stick it out and see if he changes his mind or you can return home and move on with your life. Some relationships just weren't meant to be. Maybe after a nice long chat you will be able to determine which course of action would be best. Good luck.

He broke up with you through an e-mail? How cold!! Move back home, and pick up where you left off!
