Me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex yesterday. I am on the pill but when I went to take it this morning it appears as tho I missed a day. Could this result in pregnancy? I'm fairly sure I took it yesterday but now I'm beginning to wonder.

And I was also wondering what is the time frame for taking the morning after pill?

It is possible to take the pill faithfully and still end up pregnant.

Wendy is right in suggesting you see your family doctor as they can give you professional advice.

I had already explained something to this concern today.

Birth control comes with a set of "instructions". Seeing a family doctor can help you put your concerns to rest.

Usually after I miss a day's pill, I can make up for it the next day and then continue after that with the single dosage.

I have missed two days in a row before and the doc suggested taking double doses of the pill until they are used up and then restarting the pill on the Sunday after my cycle has started. Doing this has resulted in no unexpected pregnancies.

Being that you are I are different people; go to your family doctor for his counsel. He may or may not recommend the morning after pill. The best way to put your worries to rest is to see the doc.

Best of wishes.

A female reader, Wendyg United Kingdom +, writes (8 August 2006):

Wendyg agony auntYes its possible to fall pregnant by missing a pill, this is how many do get caught out, the risk is slightly less with missing just one, but even so you can still become pregnant as the dose that would normally be in your body will have lessened (the pill is only effective if taken at the correct time and used in the correct manner) so its possible, and this is why on the pack it does state to use other precautions if you missed a pill or have sickness or a stomach upset. I realise you didnt know until after so this time around its harder to have taken secondary precautions, but it will aid as a reminder to you to remember to take your pill in future. You can take the morning after pill up 72 hours after, the sooner its taken the better. You can now buy these over the counter at your local pharmacy or pop along to your doctor.

Hope things work out for you.

Take care x x
