A female reader, Blue Sahara  United States +, writes (25 June 2010):

Blue Sahara agony auntWell, who you will go for and who you should go for are probably two different things.

You should go for your best friend because, well, he is your best friend. No relationship is going to be better than with the person who you enjoy their company enough to keep as a friend.

But you will probably end up trying something with the other guy. He sounds emotionally distant so whenever he shows an emotion you feel blessed to see it. It keeps you in constant suspense and makes you want him more. Problem is it usually ends with a lot of pain cause he is emotionally distant for a reason. And you will get tired of being in a relationship by yourself.

I know now the other guy seems so much sexier but after having enough emotionally distant guys you realize there isn't some great well of love and feeling buried under his stern outer self. There is more emotional barriers.

I have ended up with my best friend and the relationship is a million times better than any I had because he makes attempts to be just as much a friend as a lover.

Griffo agony auntIt's straight in front of you ... Your best friend. The greatest love is the love with your best friend that is the person you will want to spend the rest of your life with. The one you want to marry, because your are both so compatible, that's why you are friends and probably soulmates.

Don't ditch him because of that either, or you may lose something so great and beautiful.

Go for your best friend!
