writes:my boyfriend and I have been together going on two years now. We've had issues in the past but for the most part get along. He is an alcoholic but I have accepted that. I guess I've come to terms with it because he only drinks excessively at night and at home. my point in mentioning this is because his drinking habit has affected his ability to perform in bed. I have suggested going to the doctor for prescription medicine to help his disfunction but he never does anything. It takes a looong time for him to get aroused enough in bed to have sex. I want to have sex with him but lately I've been frustrated because there is only one position that we use that works due to his disfunction. Also his sex drive is lower because of his problem. I want the physical part but I also like the closeness. I love him but what can I do to help out our sex life?

reader, anonymous, writes (24 September 2009): Sometimes that stuff -- interest and ability -- works better when you're hungover. You might try the late afternoon of the day after, before he has his first drink of the day. I find I'm often quite horny in that circumstance.
