A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

I decided to write here because I really need help. I totally don't know what should I do. I will try to present my situation as best as I can, but English isn't my native language so sorry if there will be some difficulties in understanding me.

So here my story starts. I'm 17 years old girl, I'm in high school. Four years ago I met a boy - in shop where he was helping his grandfather. That was a music shop 50 meters from my flat. I came there to buy guitar strings for my Dad. Jake (i will be calling him here like that) was asking me which strings I want exactly. I told him that strings for electric guitar. He was so nice and cute that I didn't looked at what he sold me. I went to home. And at home i realised that he gave me strings for bass guitar. I know it sounds impossible but this is true! I was so embarassed that I entreated my brother to come back to this shop and replace that strings. I promised myself not to go there anymore. After that I saw Jake many times in church, on the street. After few times I realised that I have a big crush on him. But then I was a little girl, and he was 3 years older than me. 16 years old boys rather don't look at 13 years old girls as a girls that they want to date. So I gave it a rest.

Now after these years I realised that I still have really big crush on him - like never before. I think about him almost 24 hours. I can't concentrate at anything. I found his account on facebook and he found out that listen to the same bands as me, he is interested in history - just like me. I also found that he was one of the best students in his high school, what really impressed me. He's my ideal! Tall, handsome, inteligent. Now I'm 17, he is 20 so so age I think is not now a big problem, am I right? So I decided to take the first step. But here the problems starts:

1. He left our town and went to the university to the capital. Now he comes back home only once a month.

2. He stopped believing in God and now I can't meet him in church.

But I'm sure he will be helping his grandfather in shop this summer. And I really want to met him there.

What should I do to make him intrested in me? I'm shy and dunno how to even start conversation. I was thinking about wearing T-shirt with band that he likes, (but I know he's very shy too, maybe more than me so I dunno if he will start a conversation) or go to the shop with the book he really likes or wear a medieval necklake or bracelet (he's interested in early Middle Ages). What do you think about it? I'm afraid that he'll find a girl soon, so I'm very desperate. Help me, please! I feel worse and worse everyday I'm not with him. I'm worrying about he even doesn't know that I exist. I want to change it!

A female reader, Starlights United Kingdom +, writes (23 May 2012):

Starlights agony auntDont worry, he does know you exist!

If you do take the job in his grandfathers shop and see him; make conversation with him

(but dont try to impress him because guys can see through that)

so be natural , be yourself,

talk about music (as he likes the same bands as you) and smile , he should realise your friendly and want to be friends then.

Goodluck!
