The first time generally hurts, but dont let this put you of if you really care for your boyfriend and want to make love with him. The next time try and relaxand try a position that is going to be comfortable for you your b/f will understand until you feel able to explore other positions usually lying on your back is best for the first time or try a pillow under your hips.
Good luck

DrPsych you read my mind.. lol... The first time hurts because you break the hymen, each time after the first though it should get less and less uncomfortable.. don't give up yet, it will be worth it! :D

When a woman is aroused, her vagina becomes lubricated, and with further arousal it will expand. I took me some time to realize that girls need some foreplay before they can enjoy sex. Just let him know to take things slowly, and spend some time playing around before actually getting around to intercourse. Make sure you're in the mood and ready for it before he goes all the way.

It often hurts the first time because you break the hymen (skin inside the vagina). It shouldnt always hurt though - use lubrication, take your time and try to relax...if you are tense about it then that can sometimes make it hurt. If it continues to hurt then maybe you can just stop that part of your relationship for a while or get your pain medically checked out - there are dozens of medical conditions that cause vaginal pain. But since this was your first time you should think positively for now and if you are happy and consenting, then don't expect it will always be bad!
