A female Canada age 51-59, anonymous writes:

I have a money/friend problem.

Come this February it will have been a year that I lent a friend almost $1000. She was really stuck, she was in another country and had to get out before the visa she was on expired. She had overstayed a visa before and was banned for 3 years, a second time wouldve made it a 10 year ban. I really didnt want to see this happen to her. I put the money right into her bank for her, and she got home ok. I knew it would be awhile before she got a job and could pay me back, and I was OK with this. She said she would start paying in April, it didnt happen. Then she got a job, and I thought I would get paid back, it didnt happen. I messaged her in October about the money, I told her that I wouldnt beg for it. I told her I felt like not only was I out the money, but I had lost a friend for it. I felt used. Now, I am leaving the country I live in to move to the USA and I am debating on taking her to court to get my money back. Should I tell her what Im thinking of doing, or should I just let it go ?

Take her to court. Absolutely. She sounds like the sort of person who can't or won't take responsibiliy for her own actions and perhaps taking her to court will make her face up to this.

She's overstayed a Visa before and yet here she was about to do it again? How old is this 'friend'?

This woman is absolutely not a friend but a user and I bet you aren't the only person who has bailed her out. As the friendship has already gone, sue the ass off her. Let it go, she'll just do it to others. This may actually b a wake-up call.
