I like the look of my friend's brother but haven't met him. How can I go about making contact?

A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I had a best friend at school. We haven't seen each other for ages, but we still keep in contact on facebook sometimes. She has a brother. I feel like I fancy him!. I recently saw a video of my friend with her brother on my friend's facebook page. I hadn't seen what her brother was like now until then. I have never met him. I would like to try to get to know him. He is very good looking. Do you think I should ask my friend if we can meet up, and see if she can invite her brother too, or should I add her brother on facebook, and tell him how I know who he is ( i'm not sure if he knows that I am friend's with his sister ), and see if I can get talking to him and eventually ask him to meet up myself?. I'm not sure how to go about this, as I don't know him at all, and i'm not as close with his sister as I used to be.

I would just meet her first, talking about meeting isn't the same as meeting.

If you haven't seen her in ages then meet up with her first, without the brother and get close to her again. You're really beginning to sound like a creeper if you just ask about the brother.

Hi. Me and my friend have talked about meeting again. This was before i saw her brother. She said we could meet when she gets back from her holiday.I added her other brother on facebook recently too and he accepted the friend request. I dont know him that well either. Some people add relatives or friends of friends.

If he's that good looking, he's probably taken. You and this girl are not friends, it's going to look really weird asking to meet up after all this time with the brother present.

This could be messy a friend and a brother. I would speak to your friend first and tell her how you feel. Don't do anything behind her back as it can cause problems. Good luck

The funny thing is , someone that she is best friends with at the moment is engaged to her other brother, so it would be funny if her best friend from school (me) ended up with her other brother!.

I've thought of another way that I could mention her brother. She has gone on holiday with him now. I have been following my friend's posts on facebook recently to see what they have been up to. Maybe I could say to my friend that it looks like she had a good time on holiday with her brother, and say that it would be nice to meet him sometime?.

Be careful how you handle the relationship with your best friend as you start dating her brother, if any conflict arises, it can get tricky.

Source: I am in such a relationship and I am the brother.
