I like my drivers ed teacher!

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

So I do like another one of my teachers, this is my Drivers ed teacher too. In my school we see our 1st period everyday, and he just happens to be my 1st period teacher. Anyways I really really like him. He looks kinda young maybe in his 20s or early 30s. But I think he maybe likes me but I can’t be sure since I’ve only been in school this year for 3 weeks. When I’m in his class I’ll always be looking at him, and I mean pretty much always. Sometimes he’ll look at me, like all teachers do when they’re talking to students, but sometimes he keeps his eyes on me a little bit longer. Anyways one time he gave us some work to do and he was sitting in a chair at the front of the room. I looked up at him and he was looking at me but he looked down when I looked at him. Then sometimes my friend and I will be talking 2 rows over from each other, loud enough for him to hear since he’s only a few feet away. Then one time we were just playing around and arguing and he was like, ‘wow and you two are friends?’ my friend and I laughed and said yea we were just playing around. And then we continued arguing and I’d glance at him and saw that he was smiling and listening to us argue. Then another time my other friend and I were doing this worksheet when she said a yield sign was yellow. I told her it was red and white and we started debating about it. Then my teacher said, ‘[my name] is right’ then like 2 minutes later he came over to where we were sitting and drew some stuff on a piece of paper showing us yield signs and stuff. He’d look at her and me as he explained but he looked at me a lot longer. And as he was walking away to go back to his desk, he was still talking and looking at me as he did.

Then when it was near the end of the class, my friend and I were playing around arguing again and then she was saying some kinda mean stuff but I knew she was kidding around. But then I said ‘[friends name] makes me feel bad about myself’ and then some people in the class laughed as well as the teacher and I said something else and the same thing happened. I’ll probably have more stuff as the school year goes on but that’s all I can remember for right now. So from this, do you think he likes me?

You keep telling us about these arguments with your friend. Have you ever thought about the fact that teachers are supposed to make sure the class is working, teachers always look at the 'trouble makers' of the class, probably your talking is annoying him and stopping him from teaching properly.

btw i live in the UK so never had Driving Ed in school and don't know what sort of enviroment it is teached in.

Ok so I'm in gym now and I was on top of the bleachers in the gym with my friends. Well my teacher was at the bottom and a bit away from the bleachers at this desk. Then I looked down at him and he was looking or staring at me and quickly looked away. Then a couple of minutes the same thing happened! Only this time he came over to the bleachers and started to us. So yeah that's my highlight of the day lol.

Fine he's either 20 something or in his early 30s. But since I know I'm not going to do anything with him it doesn't matter lol.

Yeah so now that I think about it I don't really think he likes me. Oh well lol. Because when he looks at me and looks away he looks a lil annoyed but I can't tell if that's annoyance or embarassmet. I know its one of them though.

rcn agony auntI think without having everyone else around yet, he just wasn't at the point of becoming grumbling. He has a right to grumble, being a Drivers Ed teacher. Have you seen how people drive? Heck by the time he gets to school, he's probably picked out drivers he would have flunked in his class. lol

rcn agony auntYou know, someday as you mature more, your going to look at your teacher and say "he is old" and wonder why you looked at him in the first place. lol

You said once you would find a guy around your age. Take your eyes off the teacher, look around the room and find him. lol

Ok ok so today I went in the classroom to set my stuff down and it was just me and him in the room. He was on the computer and when I walked in he looked at me then looked away then again [[kinda like a doubleback or w/e its called]] then I said Hi Mr. [his name] and he said hey. This is important because according to the rest of my friends, when they said good morning to him he just kind of grumbled an hello or something like that. And then throughout the class I'd look at him and sometimes he'd look back but I'd look down if he did. Sometimes I caught him looking at me too. And once again when me and my friend were arguing he told her to stop but when I said something to her he didn't say anything. :]

Well today during the moment of silence [after the pledge of allegiance] i looked at him and he apparently was looking at me and looked down immediatly. Then he told the friend i argue with all the time that he was going to put her in the hallway if she didnt stop being mean to me lol. Yeah that's my highlight of the day, and another thing but ya'll don't need to know about that :]

Ok so now he's kinda paying attention to the friend I'm always play arguing with. Like they'll talk and stuff but when me and her are arguing he'll look at both of us. I don't think he likes me that much now that I think about it lol

rcn agony auntYea, I hope you work through this. And just to think bringing an apple use to be enough. lol Enjoy your childhood, even if it was legal, which it's not, you don't want to get involved with adult issues. I don't even want to get involved with adult issues, but it comes with the territory being older.

Not to mention one of my friends said he was sort or perverted lol. I can see how that could happen but idk I'm not saying anything.

And we've been watching movies in the class and sometimes he'll look at me during them. And don't worry, I know that just cuz he's doing these things doesn't mean he likes me. And I'm not the type of person who would go with a teacher, that's just wrong. That being said, while I was play arguing with my friend again, I looked at him since he was sorta in the convo making sure we were joking, and he looked at me and smiled. It might have just been because of me and my friends arguing but it didn't seem that way.

A male reader, rcn United States +, writes (28 September 2007):

rcn agony auntI think you're emotions for him are playing tricks on you. that happens at your age. did he look at me? is he smiling at me? etc.

even if he did look at you longer, i'm not saying you're not attractive, but it would be inappropriate for him to show any interest. he'd loose his job, spend time in jail, never be able to teach again. so if you do like it, it may ruin his life by showing it. i know many girls at high school levels that have had crushes on teachers, it's not right to make those known.

Umm I don't think ya'll have to be so harsh, you could have just told me he doesn't like me. I'm not the type to be like 'OMG I'm totally in love with my teacher and want to have his babies!!!' I'm smarter than that and just wanted to know what you thought, I guess I should've put that in my question. And I do have crushes on guys my own age so it doesn't matter whether the teacher likes me or not.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (25 September 2007):

I think your reading too much into this and he probably doesn't like you. And if you in any way try to persue him he will get into alot of trouble. Is he married etc etc?

For now I'd leave him and focus on people your age. He might think your a nice student, just because someone looks at you longer doesn't mean they automatically want relationship. I'm sure he does the same in other classes - I'm not saying he doesn't think your pretty or anything but it's very naive to think a teach fancies you from just a stare and because he laughed. I make my college tutors laugh sometimes & they look at me [I'm 17 also] but that doesn't mean they fancy me but they are women also except one man.
