What you need to do is wait for the subject to be brought up, then (being cautious so as not to hurt his feelings) explain to him your dilemma. Honesty is always the best answer so long as you start if off with something like "I hope this doesn't hurt your feelings". That said, kindly ask him to try not to let his spit get out of his mouth when he kisses you. I'm sure he doesn't realize it, and he can tell there is something wrong. He must be confused and wondering why you avoid his kisses, so by all means the best thing to do would be to let him know why. Keeping him in the dark is only hurting him and the awkwardness will not make your relationship any better.Another thing to remember is that guys are especially sensitive about being able to do things right. So it's best to start it off by praising him about something he did that you liked, and following it up with letting him know you believe in his ability to improve. You might address it to him in person so that you could smile about it, even a fake smile, to help him save face. This is always safe.I hope this helps.
