I like him, but he only tells me that if he didn't like me, he "wouldn't give me a hard time". What's that mean?

A female , anonymous writes:

I am trying to figure out what this guy I really like meant. I have known him for about a year and work with him. He has always teased me and given me a hard time.... he calls me by my ex boyfriend's last name even though he knows it drives me nuts.

Well recently he was teasing me and I got my feelings hurt and told him about it. When I told him he hurt my feelings he replied "if I didn't like you I wouldn't give you a hard time".

Does that mean he may be interested in me? He never compliments me or "spits game" so I am really confused. Does his comment just me he likes me as a friend or could it mean more?

Angelicc agony auntI have to say thats how some of my friends behave, they take your embarrassment or anything abnormal about you and turn it into a huge joke. all you need to do is thicken your skin and be able to laugh it off. but if your the type of person who takes it to heart then speak to your friend/s and tell them to stop. or change your friends

PrunellaGringepith agony auntFor many people this is just a way of showing friendly affection. When we tease our friends, we are showing that we have enough faith in them and in the relationship that we have with them, for our friend to know that we mean no harm and not be offended.

Whether or not this means he has any feelings for you other than friendship I cannot say, but it definitely sounds as though he does like you, enjoys being around you and talking to you, and plenty of long and happy relationships have started from less!
