writes:My boyfriend and I are always joking around, and yesterday he was joking about what a fraidy cat I am. He says I am scared of everything, which is true, I am a woos lol. Anyway, he said "that's why you'll never leave me... because you're scared" and for some reason this really bothered me. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it, and it got me thinking just how dependant I have been on men my whole adult life. I literally wanted to cry this morning thinking about it, and how I have never stood on my own two feet. Now I want nothing more than to be on my own... I have this uncontrolable urge, but I don't know what to do about my boyfriend, who I do love very much. Reply to this Question

reader, anonymous, writes (30 March 2009): i know his comment hit something deep, and kinda activated the urge to be independent and not so dependent on men, but it'll really hurt your boyfriend too...maybe talk it over with him about what he said..maybe you guys could work somethings out to see if you can responsiblity for some things..or find away to be independent on your own without him, but also without dumping him
