I cannot really say what's up without extra info:
1) It could be due to stress (like me when I was your age). Stress can cause "extra" periods, or skipped periods. And as I can see from your age, your are very close to menarche, so this shouldn't be a big issue. Just reduce stress and stock up on iron to keep your blood iron up. Iron deficiency will be your biggest issue. Believe it or not, extra periods (at least in some families) are more common than missed periods!
2) It can be brought on by ill health and changes in your medication.
3) Hormonal drugs like birth control pills can bring this on. Even certain antibiotics can cause serious hormonal fluctuation and cause this.
4) Endometriosis is another dangerous ailment that can bring this about.
5) A host of other factors.
Basically, I would advice you to talk to your mum about it (it could run in the family) and monitor your period for a while. Young women's bodies most of the time are just trying to cope with tremendous changes. And also, If it goes on too long (like three more times), see your doctor- it might be something bad.
