There's probably no way of knowing exactly, have you spoken with your doctor about it? If you've both been sexually active, then it could have been from his previous sex partners, or yours.
Here's a link for further research, but do speak with your doctor about it for the best information.

Be sure to practice safe sex from now on, you could infect future partners, and be sure to disclose the information before becoming sexually active with them.
All the best.

My husband and I got them after being married 18 months and were weren't unfaithful. You can carry them for ages without knowing. Sometimes they stay on the cervix which is hidden and sometimes they appear outside. It is no different than getting veruccas from a changing room. It doe show how important it is to limit the number of sexual partners you have and always use protection unless committed and fully vetted at a clinic. Just the same as wearing flip-flops in the changing room if you get a verrucca! Don't be hung up, being unfaithful has nothing to do with it. Both of you will need treatment, you may as well be pragmatic about it (but careful from now on). Good luck. I had it 20 years ago by the way and I am fine, married with family etc. It does not stop you being normal, it is just a poke in the ribs about being responsible.
