reader, anonymous, writes (8 March 2010): I'm so sorry for how you are feeling. I felt very much like that when I was younger, and it is a horrible, lonely feeling. I never wanted to go to school either, or be at home because of problems with my parents.
I know it must be really hard, but I think it is important that you try and tell someone how you feel. Like a teacher or relative, someone you can trust. You seem to get on well with your history teacher, so why not try telling him? I'm sure he would like to help you if he could. Or why not try writing it down in a letter? Sometimes that can be easier than saying it in words. I used to write down my feelings a lot, and still do, and it helps.
You could also see your doctor or nurse, and have a chat with them about the things that are troubling you. They won't tell anyone else what you say, I promise, because they have to keep everything confidential. Those are the rules.
Try not to keep everything bottled up inside, or struggle on alone. We all need some support sometimes, and you have managed to tell us here how you are feeling. Was it so scary? If it is easier because it is via e-mail, you can e-mail the Samaritans at [email address blocked] You can talk to them about anything, and it will be kept private.
I know this must be a really hard time you are going through, but it can and will get better. It did for me, and I was very, very unhappy. So I believe things can improve for you too. Don't lose hope. Take care. xxx

Lord, make us instruments of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master,
Grant that we may not so much seek
to be consoled, as to console,
To be understood, as to understand,
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in the giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

Learn to love instead of hate. Think of others instead of self. In that way , you will find peace within yourself and your surroundings.
