However, when a guy is in me, I feel like my clit changes shape, like turns inwards/downward and I have totally lost my bearings. I can't get the same heat going at all. Sometimes I'll use a toy with him on me but most positions that's awkward too for similar reasons (limited space to accomodate for the 'downward pull' effect). Does this happen to anyone and how did you get used to it and what do you do differently?

I know what you mean :)
It's very different when there's something inside of you.. It changes the dynamic completely and can take getting used to!
Different positions may help. I personally find it great in reverse cowgirl and spooning position (with top leg back over his legs), where I have freedom over my hand (there's nothing blocking movement) and also privacy for him watching front on, which I find can put me off. I found the spooning position extremely helpful in my early days :) hope this helps
