However, I find it VERY hard when to go from spending the weekend together and falling asleep cuddled up together sharing a bed, to nothing for about 5 days (his job is hectic during the week). I feel mega lonely despite being surrounded by my best friends. I just like the comfort of having him in my bed, which probably sounds pathetic. Just wondering how anyone else is this situation copes?

This doesn't sound pathetic at all. You are bonded to your bf and part of him is in you and part of you is in him.
If I were you I would ask your bf to get you a stuffed animal or something like it. Then you should sleep with that stuffed animal for those 5 days when he is not there. As you go to sleep picture that it is him with you in the bed. I know it is not the same thing but I believe it is the closest resolution. Be glad he has a job and stays busy.
