I feel like I shouldn't like him but I do!

I've know this guy for like 4 years now and we've grown to be good friends. He is not what I would call the best looking but even though I've tried not to, I've grown attracted to him and I can't stop thinking about him. He is homeschooled so I only see him 8th hour for band. We are both very musical and we really have a passion for music. He is not very good at socializing so he sometimes annoys my friends which makes me feel like I should not like him but I can't help it! He hasn't told me that he likes me but I'm pretty sure he does. I wud just like to know, How do you hint to say you like him without making things awkward?? The last thing I want is to ruin a relationship with him. And how do I make him say to me he likes me?? I've asked him who he likes and he gives me three letters for each girl. A,M, and S. (my name starts with an S) he gives me the names of the A and the M but not the S! It drives me crazy it might be me but he cant just say it to my face. I just want to know any tips that could help me get him to understand I would like him to be more than a friend. Help Please!
