A female United States age 51-59, anonymous writes:

My boyfriend wants me and my kids to move out of my house and move in with him. I have 3 children and he has two. One is an adult and the other never stays with him during the week. I don't want to just live with him, I want some sort of commitment. We've been together 2 1/2 years and I have told that this is a condition. Also, it would be easier for just him to move with us and rent out his house instead of 4 people moving in with him.

busy04 agony auntI can understand that you want commitment, but I think you should wait a little longer. I mean 2 1/2 years really isn't that long to really decide if you want to go even further to more commitment. And I'm not saying that you're wrong for feeling the way you feel at all, I totally understand! I'm just saying give it more thought. And you DON'T HAVE TO move in with your boyfriend just because he wants you to. You should both wait and really figure out if this is the best thing for you & your children, and most importantly you need to know for SURE that you two are on the same page about this "commitment thing", and hey, if you both are then go right ahead! But I just say, think through things a little further before making a final decision about this, talk about things "thoroughly" with your partner & talk to your children (this will affect them also!)

Hope I helped you & good luck!

Hold out for the commitment, so few people do these days, and when you are disrupting so many lives it only makes keen sense. I told my now husband, when he asked me to move in, that I wouldn't without marriage. Watch what you wish for.
