writes: Hi everyone,Could someone please clear up a pregnancy test question for me? I am on birth control pills currently, so I'm supposed to get my period on Saturday when I take my first "brown pill" in the pack.I haven't had sex in nearly 2 weeks, but I began having sex three weeks ago. Does that make sense? 3 weeks ago I started having sex for a solid week, but it's been two weeks since then. Anyway...I want to take a pregnancy test because there were many times a condom wasn't used and I'm just paranoid like that. However I don't know when to take one. This birth control has screwed up my period a lot, I get it at all random times, so I don't feel like I can wait for a "missed period" because I have no idea when that'll be.Is 2 weeks after unprotected sex too soon to test? I have the EPT test.Just wondering.

The pregnancy test you can take at any time. I believe you have to wait until your cycle to begin your birth control pills. Some pills will throw your system off and cause an irregular period. If you're worried about a big change in it that the pills cause, speak to your doctor, maybe you'd react better with a different brand.
So if Saturday is your normal regular time, haven't had sex for two weeks, but did for three, you have a much higher change you were doing it during your ovulation period. I know most guys don't enjoy wearing the smothering masks, but I'd require it if you're not ready for a little surprise.

If you have been taking birth control pills (active pills!) for a minimun of 7 days before you started having sex for a solid week, and continued to take them during the week you were having sex then it is unlikely you would be pregnant. As a side effect it can cause menstural irregularities in women.
However, a bit would depend on which pill you were actually taking also. some of them are monophasic, where the "active" pills (containing hormones) are the same doe, biphasic where there are 2 different dosages, and triphasic with 3 different doses.
In so far as the test, human chorionic gonadotropin (what the pregnancy test is looking for) is synthesised within 6-7 days after fertilization, so it would be detected within 2 weeks if you were pregnant. In other words it shouldn't be to early, but if in doubt visit you doctor.
I hope this helps!
