A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I can never concentrate on things for any length of time as I get bored easily and this also shows in my relationships (although I have never ever cheated and always put a lot into my relationships). It is starting to seriously impact on my life so how can I develop motivation, self-discipline, concentration, etc.? I feel like ending it all because I feel I never achieve anything.

Hi, I too have been going through something similar.. lack of motivation being the main culprit. I started seeing a counsellor, which was a great thing to do because they gave me an outlet to voice all my concerns, stresses, anything I wanted to talk about. I was given exercises to carry out each week, such as thought analysis when I had a very negative moment. All theses exercises gradually helped me come back to terms with the fact that my life is there to be lived and made the most of. So my advice would be to take the step of seeing a professional counsellor. Try you GP first and suggest this to them.

Hi there

Two things I would suggest to you, the first is to go to your GP and talk to them. Perhaps there is something that can be treated through medication, perhaps you have some kind of Attention Deficit Disorder? The second is that perhaps you could try a therapist of some kind. I had a similar complaint to you, my concentrate on pursuing things seemed to just stop half way and I'd never complete anything to the finish, I went to see a hypnotherapist and through parts therapy realised why I was behaving this way and it resolved it. I'd personally recommend a hypnotherapist but obviously it is best to first get checked by a GP in case there is any medical reason for why this is impacting your life so much.
