I can feel something poking out when I touch myself! Is it supposed to be there?

A female age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Okay, so when I'm fingering myself. *Masterbating*

I hook my fingers up, and I can feel something poking out, nearly touching the other side of the inside of my vagina.

But... I can play with it, and it feels great! Like, I'm about to orgasim, but the only thing is, I'm rather worried... It's not... Supposed to be there.

And, I'm afraid if I let my boyfriend finger me, he'll notice and he'll get pushed away, Repulsed.

Is this supposed to be there, and if not, how do I go about "getting rid of it."?

A female reader, person12345 United States +, writes (1 January 2010):

person12345 agony auntThat could be your Gspot. In most people it's just a little rough spot. If it feels really good though, why worry? I doubt your boyfriend will notice anything but dang this is so easy to make her orgasm! Especially because of your age he probably hasn't fingered many if any other girls. It's really hard to say if there's anything strange there from your description. If you're worried about it, have a gyno do a quick pelvic exam and he or she can tell you if it's a problem. But just to reiterate, most people don't or shouldn't worry about things that give them pleasure, only things that hurt.

Um, I think the way I read this posting it sounds like an engorged urethral sponge.

Did you find this after arousal, or just at any time?

If when aroused, you could be well on your way to squirting.

But, to be safe and sure, have a medical inspection, please. We are NOT medically qualified here and would hate to mis-direct you.

A reader, anonymous, writes (1 January 2010):

If you are talking about the inside of your vagina then the most likely thing is your cervix. It should be about 3 inches in, so you would need to insert your entire finger to feel it. If it is protruding into the vaginal canal then you likely have what is called a tipped (retroverted) uterus. It is a condition that about 30% of women have to some degree. The cervix is the end of the uterus and a tipped uterus will cause the cervix to protrude more into the vagina.

Normally the cervix is not sensitive enough to cause orgasm, but I have read that it is in some women. None that I have met though. Some women say that they have deep vaginal orgasms, although clitoral ones are more normal.

If you are concerned then see a gynecologist to check you out and discuss it with you. By the way, a slightly protruding cervix makes a woman tight up there and that feels really good for the guy. The downside is that it makes it easier to hit the side of the cervix in some sexual positions and that hurts.

My wife has this condition to a slight extent, so we have experienced all the pluses and minuses.

Not My Name agony auntAm not sure if you are referring to the inside of your labia, or the inside of your vaginal canal.

If the first I would have to assume it is your clitoris, ...if the second I would assume it is your cervix.

Deep penetration hitting the cervix can feel quite pleasurable, ...but if it is bringing you close to orgasm it is probably your clitoris that you are talking about.

Tell ya what, ...look up some anatomy charts - that should help you pin point what is what.
