However, I like the girl too and to make it even worse she's coming over and staying in my flat on monday night. It's as 'friends' but we all know what's happening. Now do I tell her not to bother, cancel it and forget her and help my mate. Do I tell him and risk my longest friendship because of some stupid girl. OR Do I go ahead with this plan and pray he doesn't find out? I arranged this 'date' before I knew so should I feel guilty about it at all? Any help will be great! Thanks :)

By the way, I meant to say "shouldn't" instead of "should" in risking the friendship. My apologies.
Best of luck!

Well first I don't think it's necessary for you to call the girl stupid. And no, you should risk your friendship over people that you both are dating or have interest in. However... #1. you had interest in her first. #2. You didn't know he had interest in her. #3. you're allowed to date whoever you want.
If your friend really is a good friend, he'll understand those three points- and wish YOU the best in this situation.
