writes: hi there, im getting concerned... i started the pill (cerezette)last month (may 8th) i finished the 1st pack last night and due to start my second pack this evening. instead of starting the pill on the day of my period i started it on the 2nd day (as this was the day i visited the doctor and waas told to start it the day i saw her)The thing im worried about is i had sex on the 6th day of taking the pill and i keep reading different things! One thing says use protection upto 7 days if you dont take the pill on the 1st day and other information tells me 'due to new research i am covered as soon as i take it. I was due on my period yesterday and thought i was coming on as i had the cramps on saturday and sunday but nothing has happened! I feel sick (maybe its worry??) and wondering if i should take a pregnancy test tonight?? Does anyone have any issues with this pill? Im aware that periods can stop when you take this pill but i dont feel right and as im a worrier i dont want to fork out £12 every month for a test?!? :-/ xx

It's highly unlikely that you're pregnant but you need to see your doctor again or go to a family planning clinic as you have confusing information. Yes you 'should' have waited for the first day of your next erpiod for it to be 100% effective, but your doctor told you it was ok. I would have hoped they also told you how it works and what the would happen. You 'should' have 7 days using alternative contraception if you are not following instructions or vomit or have diarrohea, but having sex on 6 day and being pregnant would be very unlucky as well as unlikely . After you finish the pack, you 'should' have a 7 day break and you may not bleed immediately (it's not a proper period), it may be a couple of days after, so you were probably not due on yesterday. (Forget about when your period would normally come as now you will have a different cycle). If you start a pack immediately following on from the first pack, you won't have a 'period' either. You may experince 'breakthrough bleeding' but not everyone does and it's not too common. I'm just confused as to why you are taking the second packet straight after the first if not absolutely necessary. Also, doctors can test you for free (well, in the UK they do) so you don't have to take a test at your cost, but i wouldn't reccommend having them every month, worrying will interefer with your cycle anyway, so just let the drug do its thing and follow the instructions.
