As someone who has had multiple piercings (lip, nose, industrial, tounge, belly button, and lobes)...forget all the previous advice below.

Ask any professional piercer- a piercing gun is a NO-NO. All you had to do is a bit of research and google. Every piercing should ALWAYS be done with a sterilized needle. A piercing gun is not guaranteed to be sterile, not to mention the physical blow your body has to tolerate by its force.

Nonetheless- what's done is done. Keep the area clean by cleansing it several times with sea salt and warm water. Sea salt will help all the build-up and fluids to ooze out. Should you develop any irregular growth around the piercing- either see a doctor or use tea tree oil. If the area you are describing is cartiledge, be warned it can take several months for it to completely heal.

Good luck. You aren't in terribly bad shape with getting it done with a piercing gun, but the healing process might last a bit longer. My industrial took almost 6 months to completely heal, and the piercings were done with needles.

O Connor agony aunti hate to sound nasty, but emilyanswers has it a bit wrong. she is of course right in saying do your research etc etc. but there is no problem in getting it done with a gun. the only piercings that should ever be done with a gun are the ones that you cant put a stud in i.e stomach, tongue etc. dont worry it will be fine. as long as you leave in the stud for the required time and keep it clean and disinfected it will be fine!

Yep, the fact it was a hairdressers really makes me think it was staffed by people who don't know what they are doing.

You should have

A) done your research, and found out that if you are going through cartilage, you need to use a needle

B) Gone up to a few pierced people and ask where they would recommend, and where to avoid.

But it's a bit late now. I would go and find a real professional piercer (you can usually tell they are good when they have a lot of things done themselves) and ask their advice.

I don't know enough about it to advise you myself on whether to take it out or leave it in. Hopefully one of the aunts who is full of holes will come and let you know what is best.

I think it will be ok if you clean it properly and just accept it is going to hurt like hell for a long time.

Good Luck!! xx

The inexpensive - and wrong - way to get pierced is with a hot needle and a cork from a wine bottle.

They did it right.
