writes: I have been taking the pill for 2 weeks now and finished my period about 1 and half weeks ago. However i am still bleeding a bit and its been going on since my period has stopped. Is this normal? Will i still be protected when having sex? When will it stop?

reader, anonymous, writes (2 August 2008): It's usually called breakthrough bleeding- if you're taking the pill and you've just started, your hormones are getting jolted around a bit and are getting used to the introduction of more hormones, and a decreased amount of others. Usually it will stop after one or two cycles; I have had the same problem, so don't worry. Yes, you should be protected and you shouldn't have to worry, unless the bleeding is accompanied by any other irregular symptoms (abnormal discharge, discomfort or pain)- if that happens, definitely go see the gynecologist. But don't worry too much, it happens, it's normal!

it could be the pill in your system hasnt settled yet but if you are worried go see your gp about this..and i would advise you to still use condoms as well to give you more protections and help against catching diseases aphex xxx
