 im also 14 and scared of this too so i usual talk about it on msn or something and let them know that im not prepared to do any of this kinda stuff. If they like you they normally stick around.

Hey sammie, I'm 19 and I am just the same. The trick is to befriend these guys first and get to know them a bit more. So perhaps make eye contact and smile and if the guy comes over just say hi and he will make the conversation. After that it will all flow naturally. Happy exploring
