A reader, anonymous, writes (14 February 2007):

I know exactly what you mean. I had a one at school, which i have to say was many years ago, but there is nothing wrong with that.

On another note, they are probably better than some of the friends i have had in the past. Don't worry about it.

Take care

A female reader, AskEve United Kingdom +, writes (14 February 2007):

AskEve agony auntLots of children like yourself invent imaginary friends so you're not alone there and to them they're VERY real. Imaginery friends appear for different reasons.

Sometimes children get separated from their parents (boarding school is a good example) and they miss them and invent a friend who keeps them company. Sometimes children find it hard to talk to their mum and dad, maybe they have things they feel are too private so they talk their fears and problems out to this friend, who of course, is always there to listen to them. These friends take on personalities very different from yours, you might be shy and your friend isn't, you might feel sad and your imaginary friend makes you laugh all the time. You may want to get up to mischief but know it's wrong so the imaginary friend "does it" and of course gets the blame.

A lot of the times you look to Jerimiah as someone you can look up to, to you he's very real but once you become older you'll also become more confident and you'll see you don't need him any more and will stop seeing him less.

Don't worry about it, if he gives you more confidence and builds up your self esteem then that's great, he'll teach you right from wrong then when the time is right you'll find you don't need him any more. Have fun!

Alex-kid123 agony auntAlot of people have imaganery friends at one point in their life... but usually people yonger than you. But let me tell you that 95% of all people talk to them selves all the time. i do, i hear other people doing it too.

Do you have a boyfriend? If you don't, there's your answer. Your "friend" may be filling up that gap in your life. I think that your mind wants a boyfriend, or someone to be with, and there for creating "jeremiahh". Try getting a boyfriend or hang out with more boys and see what happens to your imagionary friend.

hope I helped!

Well no hunny your not crazy. It depends on whats going on in your head, and what you feel at school for example - Do you have friends at school? are you very out going?

do you have a very good/bad social life?

They can all trigger things off that like talking to your self and all kinds. Honey dont worry about it :)
