Well I have been on this site for some time now, and recently had a TVH (Total virginal Hysterectomy) Im not getting hardly any hot flashes, but my appetite has got huge, my moods very erratic, and im aching like im about 80 most of the time. :( One minute im on a high the next so depressed because im putting weight on. Anyone else going through this at the moment?? would be great to talk with the same issues right now, but any possitive support would be great. My 3 children have been fantastic throughout this, im very lucky.Being a sinle parent it's hard enough, but with this to deal with on top is a real struggle. Some days I dont even have the energy to get out of bed so I drag myself up and feel miserable the whole day. :( Thanks in advance for your advice :) x

Yes, good luck on Thursday! Remember that you are your own best health advocate. Be persistent if you need to be. You can be firm and polite but don't give up if you are suffering needlessly!

I would not want to take HRT either but I have a friend who had to have a hysterecotmy very young and she's on HRT and swears by it.
I know that hystersisters is a great site and I was able to dodge the bullet with an ablation in 2004 so that I am not suffering like you.
I stongly recommend talking to you doctor to see what options you have in addition to HRT...
also since you are low carb... are you avoiding dairy and soy? both can be problems for women...

I totally get the not taking the risk. I think doctors offer the hormones because it's easier then taking the time to educate women about how to do it "naturally".
Good luck!

I have a good board for you to visit. Additionally, I would suggest you discuss your symptoms with your physicians, as being put into instant menopause is different than going through the process more naturally. It's a different experience, from what I understand. It sounds as though your surgical needs were met, but not your medical ones. Go be a loud demanding patient... you have to be your own best advocate, no one else will!
Here's the board, I think you will find loads of information on this topic there: http://www.hystersisters.com/
Best wishes for good health!

Is there a reason you do not take hormones? After all you don't produce any yourself anymore. Hormones are huge regulators not only for our body, but our minds.

Is also a very good site for info and ideas. (you don't have to be a member to search for info)
And this one has a lot of good tip as far as nutrition:

What kind of hormonal supplements/estrogen have you been given? It might be you need your dosage corrected or different brand.
I have two friends who both had it done and I don't see any changes in them, but they are both on super hormonal supplements and one of them do tell me that she once ran out of the medication and turned into a real moody wench!
If you don't believe in hormonal treatments/supplements I would look into foods, some provide nutrients that can help you. Some women swear by raw diet, other by change of lifestyle.
