I have been with the same guy for 4 1/2 years and have been having sex for 4 years and have only had one. If you and the guy are close take a sexy shower before to make sure he is clean. Or if he smells a little funny ask him to go clean himself. Thats should prevent anything they are not that common.

If I'm afraid that I have or am at risk to have another UTI, I drink lots and lots of water to help flush the bacteria out. And drink more cranberry juice.
After sex, I always wash down there.
This advice is actually the advice I received from my doctor once it was clear that should avoid taking antibiotics again. Also, I'm skeptical of taking cranberry pills--it seems more effective to me just to drink the cranberry juice and it's cheaper.

Its probably a good idea for both you and your partner to bathe first (also maybe after as well), usually urinary tract infections only occur when you're dirty/unclean in/around your vagina area, and bacteria can access. There isn't much to prevent it once you have it other then take anti-biotics, also if you wait after you do have it, it will get worse and longer to cure. (just so you know if you didn't...)
