 Well I'm not gay, but have rarely had a bad blow job from any of dozens of girls. It may sound crude to some readers, and so be it, but the key for me has always been to have a girl fearlessly suck with enthusiasm, take it deep at times, and when that special moment arrives, gently massage the balls, increase the sucking intensity and then gulp it all down.
While I cannot speak for all guys, gay or straight, I'll wager that the above works very well for most of us, providing you don't accidentally bite the shaft. That takes more than a week to heal and can become infected, which delays following sessions. Not certain, but I suppose it's about the same whether gay or straight.
