just a few questions about lovebites/hickeys really.

1- What's the best way to cover them?

2- And how long do they usually last?

Any help would be appreciated.

So far i've tried to cover them with concealer but it's too dark to cover

I would take the proactive method I use to avoid drunk driving charges. I drive sober.

Quit letting this guy give them to you.

largentsgirl89 agony auntOkay, when I get a hickey I throw a spoon in the freezer and wait until it's cold. Take the spoon out of the freezer and stick the back of it on the hickey. This should take the swelling down (hickey=bruise). After you do that, take toothpaste (yes you read that right) and dab some on the hickey. Wait thirty min and wipe the toothpaste off.

Take makeup concealer, dot it on the hickey, don't rub it in with your finger. Get a make up sponge and very gently rub it in, make sure it blends with your skin or it will be the first thing people look at.

I hope this helps. It works!!

A female reader, YouWish United States +, writes (20 November 2010):

YouWish agony auntLove bites and hickeys are actually bruises to the skin. They fade about the same time as any minor bruise - about a week or so. Tennisstar is correct - turtlenecks in winter or long necked sweaters are your savior here.

There's not much you can do to make them fade, since they're bruises. But you may want to request a bit more gentleness from your partner in the areas easily seen by friends/family/co-workers.

Otherwise, if you prefer it rough, stock up on a lot of turtlenecks. :P

Wear a scarf when you're out. One of those cute necklace chokers might cover it too, but still sort of gives the game away.

I heard rubbing a battery or a quarter on it will work.

tennisstar88 agony auntThere's no makeup out there that will mask hickeys..Now it's rather tasteless to walk around looking like a leopard so I suggest wearing turtle necks, or any high collared shirt and scarves until they fade. Usually, it's about 3-5 days they last.
