writes:Seriously, how much can I get screwed over in court for a divorce after a 1 year marriage? The specifics are: I live in NJ, married in Louisiana. My wife (6 years older than me) was just obviously trying to get a free ride with the military. She found me on the internet, treated me well enough to manipulate me to marry her and totally changed personalities once we were married. The military moved all of her stuff here. When I met her she didn't even have a plan on how to pay her rent and support her child,(not mine). I was giving her money when we weren't married and she has worked a total of approximately 2 months out of our 10month marriage.Once I told her I am divorcing her, she really didn't take it well, she turned very malicious. We have separated rooms in our base housing and are just doing out best to get along and not kill each other. I no absolutely NOTHING about the divorce system and how it works. Though she has seen my profiles on a sex site and also another dating site. She says she will use that against me to screw me over in court(I signed up for them a month ago). I was also arrested one time(for the first time in my whole life) for "harassing" her. We had a huge fight and I called her every name in the book once she hit me with a hot food covered ladle she was stirring food with. I left to get some air and when I came back the cops were there. Of course i was automatically the bad guy because I am the man.She also hacked into my facebook, one of my dating site profiles and changed my sexual preference to "gay" and other juvenile things. She has no job, I send her half my check and even more sometimes to pay for her car that she doesn't even let me drive( I stopped recently because I found out I don't have to because it's in her name), I am riding a bike in the rain and snow to get to work. She had a jar to save money up for her kid. Though she left me home alone for a month with no means of getting around, once most of the food in the house was gone, I took some out of the jar to buy some more food. She blamed me for stealing from her kid(also stated that would make me look bad in court), telling me to buy her and her son food(after I already sent her 300 bucks to do so, but she used it on her car payment), and expected me to send her more( I am saving money for a car).I am so frustrated and scared, will I have to pay her alimony and pay for her and her stuff back home? I barely make 1500 a month. How is this possible?

 Tell your story to a judge and jury... Wife or not, a mooch is a mooch. Seek legal counci, perhaps the military or a military judge can arbitrate. It would be to your advantage.
