it depends on the country's benefits/ welfsre system. Here in Ireland, UK and Australia it is commonplace, sadly. The people with the most children here are the ones who have never had a job in their lives. Why? Because the government funds them with housing, money, free childcare places (when they dont work!!!) It is sad, but it does happen. I have seen it myself.

My mother raised FIVE boys and worked. We are all stable and successful.
Saying you want to get pregnant so you cannot work IMO is an excuse for laziness.

I'm sure that there are SOME women in the UK who make this choice but it's probably not nearly as many as you think. My sister (who is a research fellow in the sociology department at a very prestigious university) has done a lot of research into similar topics - looking at single parent benefit claimants and looking at stay-at-home parents etc.
Now, if you live in the UK you sometimes get given the impression by the Daily Mail and TV programmes such as Benefits Street that the whole nation is full of women who get pregnant just to be given a council house etc but, according to my sister's research, this is actually quite a small percentage as a proportion of benefit-claiming parents as a whole. Most women chose to work and retain their jobs where possible. People who DO make the decision to have children in order to claim benefit have usually NEVER had a job and have often been brought up in households where their own parent(s) didn't work. Rather sadly, most of the single-parent benefit claimants considered themselves to be in stable relationships when they conceived.

I think it's none. If a woman does not like her job, she finds a new one. Women are smarter than you give them credit for. And yes, I realize you too are a woman, so all the worse.

Too many if they intend to live off the government and as a tax payer I'm fed up with paying for them.

I don't even understand the question. Why should women get pregnant as a way to quit work ?....
If they need the frigging job, and relative income, they would have to keep the job anyway, - more so with a new mouth to feed.
If they can take it easy for a while , counting on savings or a supportive husband or parent, they do not need getting pregnant. They can simply quit the job and stay home till they find a new one.

They don’t want to work? Hahahahaha! I think most of the mothers I know would say being a mother is the hardest job they will ever have.
I think my brother’s ex had that idea. So that’s one I know. But she is a really stupid and awful woman with her priorities all out of place. Oh and P.S. she’s back working the job she hated. So that’s one out of all the women I know well enough to even ask this question.
What’s ironic is just how much work a baby is, and you can’t hand them back either. I mean, talk about a 24/7 grueling, no sleep schedule. The current presidential candidates have nothing on a new mom.
Is there a reason for this poll type of question?

You know you can do both, right? As in have kids AND a career?
If I hated my job I'd be looking for another one that would either provide better career opportunities or that was a better fit. I would NOT get knocked up to quit a job a hated.
I have never known a woman who made that choice either. So I can't really guess.
