A female Ireland, anonymous writes:

my relationship broke up nearly 2 months ago. We were together for 4 years and lived together for 1 and a half. We had been arguing about stupid things but I finally cracked and finished it with him. I then said I had I changed my mind within a few minutes and he just said fu*k it he was done. He had to live in my house for another week until I couldn't take it anymore and asked him to leave. He wasn't happy. But seriously I was still doing his cooking and cleaning and he was treating me like crap the week it was off. I couldn't cope anymore.

Anyway he's gone abount 6 weeks now. I think I have seen him once in the 6 weeks and he has ignored me. His post still comes to the house. He phoned me a few weeks ago to ask if it could keep coming as he is living in a hostel. Then on Friday he phoned and we had a row over the phone bill and he basically said I ruined his life. Then on Saturday his mam left me a message looking for his post. I was fuming he didn't contact me himself, so I text him this morning to say I was sending it to his mams and from now on he is to change his address details. He phoned me and said he had nothing to do with it. We were friendly to each other.

I'm still really hurt by the break up and I'm not sure how I should be feeling. How long will it take for this hurt to go away???

Six weeks is nothing at all so don't worry it will get better day by day and especially when you have no contact from him to remind you. Focus on other things, spend plenty of time with family and friends doing as many things you enjoy as possible. One day you will wake up and realise you are over him.
