A male South Africa age 41-50, *roudlySA writes:

My current girlfriend fell pregnant two months after she was dumped by her former boyfriend. Is it possible that her former boyfriend is the father of the child? Some people are suggesting that she might have slept with someone else after the split-up before she met me. Please help.

You can also ask her is she has missed two menstrual cycles, but that is not always the best indicator. As some females do have sporadic menstrual cycles, some don't. Like myself, I know a lot of females that had a light flow 3 months, into their pregnancies. If she is under doctor's care, for this pregnancy...the doctor and her will be able to figure out a due date. Then from there, you go back approximately 38-40 weeks or 9.5-10 months, not nine months as some people think.

This isn't abnormal. The midwife will tell her dates as to when the baby is due and how big the baby is at the fist scan therefore she can work our when she conceived.

My friend found out she was pregnant at two months as she missed her first period and never bothered as this had happened before but then at two months she missed the second she decided to have a test - pregnant.

There is a very big chance that her ex is the father of her child as she only found out after 2 months, sometimes some women don't find out until 2 months that they are - I wouldn't worry too much hun.

I hope this helps, let me know. Ches

It only takes a few days to a week after sex for the ferilized egg to implant. The most common time to get pregnant is 2 weeks after her last period but it is possible anytime after her last period as well. Basically if she had sex with anyone else but you between her last period and her missed period, there is no way of knowing unless a paternity test is done.

You betcha.. she could be pregnant by her ex bf. In a lot of cases, women won't even realize they are pregnant until they are 2-3 months into a pregnancy. I myself, was 4 months pregnant with my first child before I had any symptoms, at all. Before that, I had no clue I was even pregnant. Every female is different, but if you have been dating her for just 2 months, and she concieved this child with her ex bf, just prior to dumping her...yes it's very, very possible that the child is his.

You can't be sure how far along she is unless she gets an estimate from a professional, and even then it is still a guess. She could have gotten pregnant with her former boyfriend and not found out until now. If she had her period between the time she was dumped and met you, then it's very possible that she hooked up with someone else before you but it's still possible to have a light spotting/period when your pregnant or just becoming pregnant. Either way, talk to her.

The only true way to know is a paternity test. as for how long before you know you are pregnant all depends on the women and her biology. I have known 2 women who kept getting their cycle all the way up until the 6th month and had no clue they were pregnant. Again the only true way to know is a DNA test. Is she saying its yours? If so tell her no offense but I want a paternity test because I want to do the right thing for myself and the baby. Which is the most important person here. Good Luck !
