How do you get over someone who's obviously not worth your time?

A female age 36-40, anonymous writes:

How can I get over a guy who dumped me because he couldn't handle my past and mistreated me because of this? Because I lied about it, just because I didn't want to disclose it. He judged me hardly on it, and was mean when the subject came up. We were together for a long time, but we just hit a crisis and he ended it. He's everything I cold've dreamed of in a guy - except for this obviously. I mean my past wasn't really bad, not even for my age. I was a virgin before until I started dating him. The most i had done before was giving oral sex to an ex friend with benefits (long time before meeting my bf), and making out with two strangers. I'm 19, this happened between the ages of 15 - 17.

How do you get over someone who's obviously not worth your time, but who on paper is just so perfect for you? This was my first boyfriend and love.

SJ_ninety agony auntSomeone quite close to me is going through a similar situation right now; the only difference is that he's constantly harrassing her, texting her threatening messages and what not. If it ever gets to a point to where he's screwing with you mentally, get the cops involved. It may be scary at first, but it's a relief to know that SOMEONE is on your side. Oh and keep friends and family super close. The support in general will help you through this. I know I didn't give the best advice, but I hope it helped at least a little.
