well it depends whats your trying to get over, a bad break up? a death?
but id say the best way to be positive is to get involved in positive activities, such as going out with friends and enjoying yourself, spending time with the family you have and just generally doing the things you love most to do. Trying not to think about the past is difficult, i know when i broke up with my boyfriend it hurt like hell to think of the good times we had, but going out with friends and getting involved in things really took my mind off it. If you think positive and act positive then you`ll be positive.
hope this helps x
