How do you forget the mother of your children?

A male United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I was in a relationship for 7 years we have two kids she had a previous daughter..... we have been separated for 3 years now and I cant stop thinking about her I dream about her I feel stuck that I cant move on with life I am miserable we have joint custody of our two and she constantly says that my stepdaughter is not mine to not worry about her even though I helped raise her.....she currently has been taking her daughter to see her father and this really gets to me....i need to get over her but how to forget the mother of your children?

eyeswideopen agony auntYou don't, if you have children together. You can only try to recover from your broken heart. As far as I know, there are only 3 medicines for that: time, staying busy and visible, and finding a new love.
